Music theater from Georg Nussbaumer
Salon Q is a piece of free musical theatre, a collection of compositions, music performances, happenings, installations, texts, pictures and videos all based around a string quartet
With this production Evan Gardner confronts the myths of musical theatre by radically reducing and reinterpreting his available material, breaking down traditional performance practices. A dialectical game is developed between individual interests and communal desires, between tradition and innovation, between the salon culture of string quartet and the fabled end of the Beatles. And all the while, four musicians sit on stage rubbing horse hairs against sheep-intestine casings.
